A week or so, someone in Hacker News asked for some feedback on his new project management software called Siasto.
In the comments people were raving about the user interface so I felt intrigued as to what makes a distinctively good user interface.
I registered and tested the web application (my feedback on Hacker News) and really liked how the application guides the first steps of the user in the application.
But then, I don’t really used it after that because I don’t really need a new project management system.
This morning I received this email:

I love emails that have personality. Here, they managed to combine all the best practices into one finely crafted email:
- Call me by my name.
- Personify the web app “This is Siasto.”
- Highlight what I should scan “give it another try”
- Funny but clear call to action “Come back to me” (with a love icon)
- The unsubscribe link is another opportunity to have some fun (“”Unsubscribe from my love”)
- Encourages feedback “Reply to this email and let’s talk”
I wish all the best to the developer behind Siasto.
UPDATE: I just realized the developer is the co-founder of Taskforce, an application I stumbled upon in the past.
