It has been several months now that I see ads for daily deals in Sydney from LivingSocial, like this one:

These ads are following me everywhere: in Gmail, in blogs, etc…
But when you click on the ad, you are asked to enter your email address to be notified for when LivingSocial will launch in Sydney.
By now, they must have a huge list of email addresses already that they will be able to spam when they will launch in Sydney.
But the interesting bit is that they are probably running these ads in a lot of other cities. This way they are building their email lists and they are testing the markets. Where should we launch next? Let the size of the email lists tell us.
If I were running a startup in the daily deals market, I’d be scared right now. On top of Facebook who has joined the boat recently, there is another juggernaut coming: LivingSocial.
